Jazz:
Jazz is a popular dance form, as the Top 40 music is often used in class. A combination of different styles and funk moves, as well as technique is covered in class. Ballet class enhances jazz technique.
Ballet/Lyrical:
Ballet is a fundamental dance form. It develops grace, coordination, and correct posture.
Classes are structured around the Royal Academy of Dancing Syllabus (R.A.D.). It is an internationally recognized syllabus that sets a standard for developing technical and artistic proficiency.
Pre-Int./Int and Sr dancers along with ballet, will also explore lyrical dance. This dance form is a combination of jazz and ballet techniques. As well as teaching technique, lyrical develops a students emotional interpretation of dance. Taking both a ballet and jazz class is a definite asset for lyrical class.
Pointe : (Int/Sr dancers only- ½ hr/per week-combined with Ballet/Lyrical classes).
Pointe class is a further expansion of ballet. It requires a good basic understanding of classical technique and posture. Strong, fully developed feet and ankles are a must. New students will begin by taking class on demi-pointe and will only be allowed on pointe when the teacher deems the student ready.
